If you could transcend this life when your body dies and live on in a reality of your own making, would you make an appointment to get it done?

If you would accept this, Tell me what your reality would look like.

The most thoughtful response will get my answer in reply.

I am currently living a reality of my own making. If there was such a thing as heaven, I'm living it now. I made choices to get where I am in this idyllic life I am living and I'm happy with my choices.

Therefore, I'm happy to simply cease to exist upon my death, as I'm living a reality of my own making while I'm alive.

@Julie808 Interesting. Are you saying you are ready to die?

@x0lineage0x No, of course not! I'm happy to continue living this life! I don't believe in any afterlife, as I believe I will simply cease to exist. I had a life for 50 years that I was not happy with, so I made some changes 12 years ago, and created a new life where I am happy. That's all. My life is so sweet as it is, I wouldn't make any changes. --

If you are asking If I would sign up for a program, knowing I could live like this forever, with no changes, then no. It is the changes, the surprises, the challenges to overcome that make life so sweet.

The human enterprise does not need more empty speculation and imagination about some idealized afterlife.

Honestly, I don't see myself as a creature of eternity. I would have to become something unrecognizable to myself -- someone lacking hedonic tone, for example -- to sustainably operate in such an environment.

In the unlikely event that science bestows biological immortality on me before death takes me, it will be nice to have options, but I doubt I'll want to be around for more than perhaps 250 years.

indeed. there is certainly enough of that around!

can't get past the if. not even going to try. dead is dead.

g

If you can't get past the if you are not trying hard enough.
If instead of dying you could have your mind transplanted to the matrix, would you do that?

@x0lineage0x not trying hard enough to please whom? maybe i don't think it's worth trying more than i did. maybe it's not interesting enough to try more than i did. maybe the IF is too big an obstacle no matter how hard i try because i am not motivated to try, and i tried exactly enough for me and too bad if someone else thinks it's not enough. and what the hell is THE matrix?

g

@x0lineage0x wow indeed. i wasn't rude and i did not get personal with you. i disagreed with... well, let's call it a premise for lack of a better word. do you always get nasty when people disagree with you?
