Which driving service is better to work for, Uber or Lyft? Why? I have a few hours a day and a reliable car. I'm thinking about starting up with one of these services.

Lyft allows the passenger to tip the driver

Make sure your car is less than eight years old.

I have worked for neither, but I'll tell you what I know from friends that worked for Uber. A friend of mine did Uber. He LOST 5K in 2 months! You need to supply water and chargers for customers. It seems good, but do you want to have to go and pick up a drunkard at 2 AM, and they puke or piss all over your car? Uber also doesn't withhold tax. That means at the end of the year, you need to pay in. Plus you don't know if it's a voilent criminal. Not just anybody is going in my ride! Here's a video.

+1 on Lyft. But to make any money.... You need to be available when THEY want you... Not necessarily when you are free. If you stick with it... Check with your auto insurance to make sure you and passengers are covered!

Lyft drivers seem happier over all. At least when I have talked with them. And many drivers do both.
