OK, here goes.
Thinking about my day 2day, it occurred to me I'm leading a sort of a dbl life right now. One the 1 hand, I go about my day in a sober, restrained manner, and in the evening, I pick and choose my reality from a lrg # of vids on uTube. The latter usu. being a wide variety of topics and feature players from Alex Fucking Jonz, to Donald Fucking Trump, to surfing, to mountainbiking, to, well, you know...Anyway, it has become something of a pattern. I'm trying to decide if it's a good, or a bad pattern.
Like Meeting Mr. Goodbar, without the blood........?
I don't recall seeing that movie, would you recommend it?
@Condor5 only if you enjoy a stupid woman get herself killed in a completely predictable manner...set in the swinging 70's, she keeps bringing home strange men until "bingo"!
@AnneWimsey thanks, I think I'll skip that one. I'm more inclined to comedies nowadays.
@Condor5 there are definitely movies that make you think, "theres 2 hours i'll never get back". It was Very controversial at the time..."how dare she have one-night-stands, serves her right"?!
I think there's nothing wrong with having a daily ritual of stuff you do and then carve out time to do your relaxing with whatever entertainment or current events holds your attention. However, I think finding a balance is good - perhaps give yourself a break from the current events stuff that makes you mad or makes your blood boil -- and be sure to counter it with the stuff that frees your mind, gives you hope and actually helps you relax.
I have a bit of a daily ritual, when not too busy with work, in that I'll watch the msnbc news shows Rachel Maddow, etc. M-F for 2-3 hours.... I find that I'm actually glad when the weekend comes and those shows aren't on, so the temptation to turn on the TV is not there, and I can relax with activities that are more life affirming.
I think you are quite incisive on this. Rachel Maddow's the best, isn't she? But, yeah, she can put one on overload after a couple episodes.
i cannot tell you whether or not it is a good or bad pattern. i probably couldn't even if i could read what you wrote, but there is so much text speak in there.... don't get me wrong. i understand text speak. however, it slows me down to the point that i lose interest. it's not just because my eyes are bad. it's because my brain is offended; i'm an ex-english teacher and magazine editor, and a writer at any rate (and yes i make initial caps in formal writing). i just couldn't get the gist of the pattern after all that. i am not trying to put you down. i am giving you my honest reaction.

Sorry, I'm in the initial stages of breaking the very habit ur extolling upon, my dear lady. My gravest apologies. After teaching Business Writing for so many years, I always look for shortcuts; I usually try to be very precise and proper, sometimes colloquial, but still civil. It probably really doesn't matter whether u read it or not, but thanks for the comment.
