I saw this question on Quora, but did not answer it there because it seemed most people were taking it seriously and the first answer that came to my mind would probably be downvoted to the point of collapse or reported as inappropriate. The crowd here is, hopefully, more likely to appreciate it ....

The question was: "God passes you the aux cord and let's you put on a song for the entire world to listen to. Which song will you play?"

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha . . . . . This is the first thing that came to mind:

I have to pass. What's the point of a song the whole world won't understand for language issues... in other words has to be instrumental and the message in an instrumental song is cultural biased so... I pass without selecting one to be played.

The first two that come to mind are John Lennon's "Imagine," and Train's "Drops of Jupiter." I LOVE the line about heaven being overrated. 🙂

I LOVE both of those songs!

Music with words can visibly affect the world. Music without words (Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto) can invisibly affect the world.

John Lennon — "God" (The opening of this version is perfect for the premise.)

God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain

I'm sure this is adequately irreverent. If it isn't, there are others. 🙂

Thanks for the laughs.

Good one. Loved it. 😀

6.I Heart H.C.

I know you feel like you're the only one
like you've had enough, like you should just give up
like you don't give a fuck
But let me tell you my friends when it ends it just ends
There's no afterlife you don't come back from death

So when you leave this earth
When your heart stops you'll see
There's no choir of angels, there's no gods to meet
You leave friends, you leave family
Leave lovers, leave home
Then you'll be on your own

So let me tell you my friends when it ends, it just ends
There's no afterlife you don't come back from death

Just know this my friend as you let go of hope
As you struggle with your life and grip tightly that rope
There is love to be found if you just open your heart
There is light to be found when you're lost in the dark
There are people who'll listen and people who care
An i know this my friend because i have too been there
There's no afterlife you don't come back from death
