Thank you for this excellent article.
Growing up, both of my sisters were depressed. Lynne and Beth are taking anti-depressants now.
In high school, my older sister, Lynne, was prescribed speed for her chronic depression.
"I had a terrible time getting off speed in college," Lynne said.
Excellent article, thanks so much for this. definitely going to share it. I've struggled with depression for many years, and the hardest thing to get past was the stigma, which was way more pervasive years ago. Getting beyond that was a major boost: I no longer felt bad about feeling bad. There's still so much misinformation out there, we need to keep talking about it.
i hope at least most depressed folks (of whom i am one) know these myths to be untrue. i hope further that most depressed folks' loved ones also know, but i'm afraid that hope goes unfulfilled. so many people really don't know the difference between being clinically depressed and just feeling sad. why, if i tell a joke, and laugh, and seem cheerful, i can't be depressed, right? wrong!
