Already did it. Very good decision. I'm much better off.

Did it twice, was very painful, but I survived. Now I cannot understand why I every married either one of them.

@fidla When it happened you were in love. It is funny how we don't seem to ever remember that we once loved that person. So have you done this more than once?

The women in my life tend to be the ones to go to those places. Although I did initiate the divorce from my first wife, it was under really extreme duress due to her mental illness and there was threat to the physical safety, at the time, of my children and myself.

It's really sad when anyone starts thinking of divorce. I'm sorry you feel it necessary to consider that. If you want to discuss your reasons, we're all here to be a sounding board. I certainly won't judge it. But I am by nature a romantic, and find divorce such an emotionally painful "nuclear option" that it is nothing less than an existential crisis to me, whether or not it's my desire / initiative. So I hope you can find a way to heal your marriage. Divorce can look like a relief, and might even be one at first, but if there was ever real love between you, it is also a terrible loss and involves potentially other people who will experience some part of that loss, too.
