What is the dumbest thing you've got pulled over for, got a ticket, or even arrested for? If you just want to hear the big BS part, just read the last paragraph.

Another post sparked me to write this.

When I was in college I was sitting in the campus parking lot waiting for class to start. I got pulled over when I was pulled over in a private parking lot! Why? The officer saw that the tint that came with the car was below the AS1 line! Got a ticket for excessive tint.

I got pulled over another time when I was pulled over! I was paying my electric bill. The officer asked about an incident I had nothing to do with. He asked if he could run my plates. I said yes. Claimed I didn't have a valid drivers. He would not let me drive the vehicle a few blocks to my house! I did have a valid DL. Got that cleared up with the DMV in about an hour. I also got a check from them. Something was screwed up on their end.

Another time I got pulled over because of a broken tail light on a trailer. I had 2 Roundup shuttles on the back, and a bunch of other chemicals in the box of the pickup. Farming isn't uncommon here at all. He claimed I didn't have a DL, but let me drive home (only a few blocks). What happened is my medical expired for my Class A. The letter from the DMV went to the wrong address! I wasn't driving a CMV, and for some reason, it made my Class O invalid! Just had to go to the doctor and pass my medical.

One time my dad got a call saying I was missing. He thought it was a prank call. I was watching his house for him. Got a call a few minutes later. Someone did report me as missing. Not a ticket or anything, just BS.

I also got a call once said there was a warrant for my arrest. They said I was wanted for money laundering, fraud, and I had a car rented in Texas (from the previous year) found abandoned with 20# of cocaine! It seemed legit, they gave me a "gov ID number", and a "case number". They accused me of everything except murder and rape! I called 911 after that to clear things up. No such warrant. I did get pulled over a while after that for a broken tail light. The first thing they do is look for warrants. I got a written warning.

Here's the kicker. I did have a warrant out for my arrest. The police came over to my house to arrest me. Know what it was for? I forgot to pay a $10 parking ticket! Yes, TEN fucking dollars. They never put the cuffs on me, but I did have to sit in the back and go to the courthouse (which is about 20 miles from here). I asked if I could just give him the cash, and he could take it in. He said no. The fucker never gave me a ride home either! My mom lives in the town. I had to walk to her house to get a ride home (didn't have my phone). Talk about a huge waste of money! How much did it cost for him to come and get me? Look at his pay, fuel, disbatch, deterioration of the vehicle, etc. Wouldn't a letter in the mail be cheaper? If I got pulled over for something, it'd make more sense. But going out of their way to get me? I did have to go to court over it. I wanted to pay there, but they didn't take the card, and I bank 20 miles away. So the roughly $50 I paid to the court probably didn't even make them break even. The ticket was for parking in a snow zone (couldn't get out).

I have been pulled over in Minnesota for a very thin necklace hanging from the rearview (obstruction of view), accused of being dead because I parked for the night at a rest area, actually, I have been accused of being dead four times for spending a night in the car. Proof of reincarnation???

My brother was a known criminal in this little town for being a thief and my brother and I had never gotten along because he had always been a bad person since childhood. So the lifetime of being judged by his actions has always been a sore spot with me. When I see/hear people say someone is bad because a relative is, I will usually jump to the defense of that person because I know what that is like.

In the days before cell phones, I was driving my husband's pickup while he had a friend's full of stuff because we were moving; I was in the rear. . Cops pulled me and said my brother had broken into a home and stolen things and they had reason to suspect I had the property. What was that reason I wonder?

They took most of the shit out the pickup and found a wok still in the box. Yup, they claimed a wok was on the list of stolen goods and demanded I prove ownership. Believe it or not, I had the paperwork because I keep shit like that LOL

They left all the shit on the side of the road and I was trying to reload it when my husband returned with the empty truck he had been driving.

As I am rereading the above, I can see that I am still irritated over 30 years later.

Small villages are the best aren't they? Even if you don't know what you are doing, everyone else thinks they know what you are doing.

There was a post a day or so ago kinda on the topic. People WILL make you "guilty by association". I was friends with a violent guy (4 time fellon). He'd come over to my house all the time unannounced. People found out I was a friend of his. This I know for fact; the police were watching my house. Not because of anything I did, but because he would constantly be around. Another friend of mine had his house watched. We have both severed ties with him. The police stopped snooping around my house when I made a written statement against him, and filed a restraining order. The court already gave him a 2-3 month order. I got it extended for 1 year.

It's shitty that you are accused of being a bad person just because you know someone, or even worse, related to them. You can pick your friends. You can't pick your relatives.

@TheGreatShadow Indeed we can't

I had Ohio plates and was sitting at a red light when a Porsche pass me going about 80. I said to my wife boy is he going to get a ticket and with that started up. I went about 100feet and was pulled over by the police. Iasked what I did and his reply was my wheels had started turning before the light changed even though I did not go thru the red light. I protested and he said I could appeal in court at 7pm tomorrow night. Staying overnight and food cost more than the ticket so I just paid it $35.00

I only remember one outstanding instance. During the period of my life between marriages, I was heading home early in the morning and was pulled over and when I asked the cop said I had stopped too fast. He then asked where I was going and I said home but then he had me walking the white line and then admitted that I wasn't drunk and hadn't been drinking because I had no alcohol on my breath. He then wrote a ticket out for failure to signal even though he was coming up another street and couldn't have seen the signal. I had been there about a half hour and told him I was going to be late to work and he say's "I thought you were going home", to which I told him "I'm going home to get ready to go to work."

When I got home I called the court and complained about harassment. They told me I still had to appear so when I went to court, I told the judge and he agreed but still made me pay $20. saying he was letting me off cheap and it wouldn't go on my record. The cop even explained to the judge that the reason he thought I had stopped was there was sawdust on the road and dust went up when I stopped. He also made a dear of telling the judge that I had been to my girlfriends house and was heading home from there. I always thought this was a set up.

I was in the ER because of my back. I couldn't drive to get pills because they gave me morphene. She got pulled over because we had to drive 80 miles to the nearest 24 hr pharmacy. It was late. She was tired. A police officer said she was drunk. My mom hardly ever drinks, and when she does, it maybe a glass of wine. She was just fatigued. Lots of people get pulled over because they are simply tired, and they mistake it for a drunk driver.

I was pulled over for not having a front license plate. Usually these are incidental things they mention if you’re stopped for something else.
I just asked her if she would drill holes in her bumper if she drove a Porsche? She admitted no and let me go.

At least she let you go. If the vehicle was sold to a dealer in a state where front plates are required, the dealership should have put the bracket on. I worked for FoMoCo, and the new vehicles didn't have them, so I had to put them on.

Technically (depending on your state) that could be a secondary offense. Not a primary. Here in Nebraska, you can't be pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt. You can get a ticket if pulled over for something else. However in Iowa they can pull you over.

@TheGreatShadow both plates are really required in Texas but not usually policed to any extent. I’ve never had one on any of my cars. Porsche, Mercedes, BMW generally don’t put the brackets on unless you ask, makes the front end look like shit. I’ve been pulled over plenty of times, generally speeding to work.
