My family started watching the original Star Wars trilogy this weekend because my 14 year old niece had never seen them before. I have the Despecialized Editions, so they are frame by frame, hi def restorations of the original theatrical releases. At one point, part way through Empire, I was explaining to her that there are no computer effects in any of the movies. She looked at me like that was the single dumbest statement she had ever heard. The possibility hadn't even occurred to her that special effects like that could, or would be done without computers. It took quite a bit of convincing, & I still don't think she fully believes me. ?
She probably doesn't believe that in some parts of the world children go to school without shoes either.
That, she wouldn't have any issue believing. She just moved back to the US a few months ago after growing up in Turkey, where the war against freedom, personal privacy, & women is far beyond anything most of us have ever experienced. While she's always been well looked after, she's seen plenty of others who weren't.
