Dan Dennett came up with an excellent term for 'pseudo profound bullshit' ... he calls it a 'deepity,' which may be defined as a statement that is apparently profound but actually asserts a triviality on one level and something meaningless on another. Just remember this term when some bullshitter tries to sound incredibly profound!

What I see here is the lumping together and condemnation of all concepts with which you disagree. The cause of the disagreement might be ignorance, but by labeling it all as pseudo-profound bullshit you get to stroke your ego and reinforce your ignorant beliefs.

“In light of the relatively small nature of the study's sample – and the limited pool of statements the participants were surveyed on – the researchers acknowledge the limitations of their experiment.”

And no standard deviation mentioned. Could this article itself be pseudo-profound bullshit.

You know it strikes me as convenient, and possibly telling, that you chose to leave out the very next paragraph, which states

We see this finding as a small but interesting contribution to a fun and quickly emerging field of research rather than something groundbreaking or conclusive

Any article could be pseudo - profound bullshit, but at least this one tries to offer some science as possible evidence.

As opposed to the other pseudo nonsense it describes which always offers none. Only words.
