So my mom called. She's 58 and not exactly interested in politics. I explain why the SC confirmation upsetted me.
Her reply: "so nothing will change for 20 or 30 years."
Me: "uh. Let's just say you're right."
I then remind her that she has grandchildren to consider. That I understand she doesn't need PP services, or worried over pro-choice decisions, she has to realize her grandkids will.
In ten years, I expect all my kids will be dating, deciding on birth control options, etc.
She just blew it off like whatever.
I can't understand why people just don't give a shit about anything that doesn't directly affect them. If we just had a bit more compassion for other human beings, we would probably not even have the current batch of assholes in position to fuck up our country for the foreseeable future.
I can't decide whether I should be homicidal, suicidal, or blind drunk for the duration of this nightmare.
I have 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. I can not imagine being disconnected like that. Sorry she is not interested.
That's how she's always been.
@Nichole765 that is a shame. I am glad you are interested. A good role model for your kids!
Your mum sounds like your typical self centered idiot nothing you can do about that accept you won't change her and her grandkids probably won't like her my mum's the same kids don't even visit her to pick up gifts she has seen them maybe 4/5 times in last 5years her loss
Yup. Major holidays. That's it.
Unless I drive them over there
@Nichole765 sad eh i loved my grandma she was a sterling person
@weeman yup. I spent every minute I could with mine. Shame my kids missed out on that bond
