I am off work until Thursday. Anyone else ever had pneumonia? I feel awful and have been told it can take 6 weeks to feel completely better.

Supposedly it was 'only' bronchitis and I had it for at least a month a few years ago. It was horrible. I felt like how I figured zombies must feel. If I were to look for a silver lining, no matter how ridiculous, I lost 50 pounds.

I hope you have the shortest, mildest case ever. Take care!

Thanks! If I lose any weight I would be happy! But it is unlikely😟

The newer meds have a three day heavy dose regimen, at least on some versions-there is more than one kind of pneumonia. You will be weak for a couple of weeks.

I can tell. I feel like I can barely move.

I had double pneumonia in 2001 - just after 9/11. I had started teaching at a local liberal arts college with all kinds of new bugs around. I wasn't sleeping well and had four different classes to teach and was wearing myself out, and I suspect my immune system was just kaput. Went to doc, and once the Xrays came back,he showed me what I had and told me to go home for the rest of week. I told him I needed to teach the next day. He threatened to admit me if I didn't go home... I decided to go home.. I had made myself mow the lawn the day before!!! It took me the better part of a month to get over it, although I did go back to teaching the next week. Please take care of yourself!!!

I actually feel more tired today than I did yesterday. All I can do is lay around.

@GreatNani ugh ! I remember it being a slog to get back to feeling 100%. Take it as easy as you can !

@Ohub thank you!

Sorry you are fighting pneumonia.

I once worked with a rather old and very good artist. When he was young, his wife (in her late 20's) fell ill and contracted pneumonia. From her first cough to her two day stay in the hospital was less then a week. From that point on, he worked hard to do a good job raising their three children alone.

Hope you are well soon.

i have had it many times, and don't be silly, it only takes five week. isn't it a drag? i may have walking pneu right now. i'll find out tomorrow when i walk my butt over to the doc. drink lots of liquids! hot honey lemonade DOES help.

Hot honey lemonade? I have not heard of that one. Will try and get the recipe. Good luck!

@GreatNani it's just lemonade made with lemon juice, water, honey instead of sugar, and you heat it up.

bacterial or viral?

They say bacterial. But I am not sure they actually know. I am on an antibiotic now.

@GreatNani hmmm bacterial is generally worse than viral as the symptoms are usually much worse difficulty breathing being the one i would keep an eye on not to say virals a walk in the park but my gp told me it was a good job mine was viral

@weeman Just had an xray and waiting to hear back. I am exhausted! Not coughing to much, unless I use the inhaler. This just stinks all around. I am so busy at work and now out for almost a week!

@GreatNani fck meant to say aspirin ibuprofen drink as much as you can and get as much rest as possible it can last months the less care you take of yourself 4 months for me but i have diabetes so that doesnt help

@weeman 4months?OMG! That is awful. Yes, I will take care of myself. I hope you are better now.

@GreatNani yep was a few years back but tks just remember if you push yourself or stress out it puts your recovery time way back i was off work 7 weeks and went back against Drs orders prol why it then lasted another 2 months and still felt crappy for a few months after all symptoms gone

@weeman That is terrible. Good thing you are in the UK. My sister lives in Scotland and I am always impressed with how much leave she gets!
