Although having a logical explanation for everything doesn't preclude feelings of awe, wonder, excitement or transcendence, if that's what you're after. Religion would have you believe that you need it for these things to even happen. 'Tain't so. Religion would have you believe a lot of things would vanish from the face of the earth without religious faith -- morality, kindness, love, meaning, purpose -- when in fact none of those things are dependent on religion whatsoever. And in many respects, are undermined by religion.

Religion is terrific at claiming to invent and nurture things it has nothing to do with.
