Learning to take criticism, especially of ones looks, is a lot harder than it should be. I wonder what parts of society/being raised these days has made it so easy to let people who say, "You're not my type" or "You're ugly" unprompted to beat us down. #PostHumpDayThoughts

Well, some people do have a very limited appearance that they are attracted to. I think it is unfortunate for them, as they are trying to find a personality along with limited looks that will work in a partner. But I am not sure how much control we have over that. Stating someone is ugly, however, is just rude and never necessary.

Too bad people can't wear their insides on the outside...those who would even say such things don't deserve our energy at all and we would be able to recognize them by their ugly insides.

That is not positive criticism since people can't change many things about their physical appearance. That is plain meanness or ignorance...and while it is tempting to return it back, take stock in the fact that you have others who have found traits in you that go deeper and are more meaningful.

Oh, I still have not really had cause to question that. If there's ever a day when I do have to question whether or not I have traits that the people I like will also like, I'll end it. Not worth bringing only pain into the world. But I don't envision that day ever happening, as I'll always try my best to be kind.

meanness is at a premium these days, as is extreme defensiveness, to name just two elements creating this sad situation.
