How do you handle it when your family doesn't approve of a decision you've made? How do you make it work?

Other than a spouse. Approval isn't necessary.

I've been divorced twice, so I obviously don't have a clue.

I handle it by not giving 2 shits about their opinion. I don't involve them in the decision making process and I don't seek their approval about the decisions I've made. If they offer an opinion that I didn't ask for - I leave. As a result, most have learned to mind their tongue.

Heh! Leaving sounds familiar. My family stopped micromanaging me because I would just leave and stay away... for years. The ones who actually care about me stopped giving unsolicited advice.

The people I would care most about horrifying are dead. I don't have to handle it if the rest don't approve.

Good for you
