Anybody else wish they could just leave the family behind and just drive... maybe towards warm weather. I have never hated my town like this before. There's nothing here except my family!!!!
I did, 11 years ago. That was the day I took over my own life. My kids were grown and I felt I'd only be a phone call away. Best decision I ever made was starting my life over in a different (but familiar) place. I had spent years with the idea, and then months putting the plan into action so that I could make a living upon arrival in my new permanent residence. It was scary, but necessary for me if I was ever going to live my own life.
Congratulations and what a cool career choice you made!
If money was no object, I would have moved to the Southwest years ago!
I don't blame you... I've been to Jamestown, NY several times! Birthplace of Lucille Ball... And that's about it. You either work at the Lucy Museum or at Dollar General.
My old brother in law lived there for years. His wife grew up there. Driving in there I thought it to be a quaint little town. My bro-in-law was fresh out of the Army and his wife wanted to live near her family. He was an ex tank mechanic so he got a job at some heavy equipment place in town.
My ex and I spent several Thanksgivings there. Looks like it used to be bustling around WW2 and then hit the skids. A nice place to visit... But no way in hell I would live there.
If it is just you... Get out! If you are married... Grab them and go!
Every once in a while I wonder what it would be like to have only lived in one place. I can't imagine it. I have a family of my own choosing.
