I lost my Halloween spirit in the divorce. It's always been my favorite holiday, and this year I'm just not feeling it. I have no desire to decorate or get myself costumed up. I think I'm mending, emotionally, though it's kinda slow going. A lot less crying and anxiety. But this loss of spooky spirit is of concern to me. Anybody have any encouraging words of Halloweeniness to help me get back my boooooo? I suppose it'll come back eventually, but I'm just so bummed out that I seem completely bereft of ghastliness this year.
Eff, divorce is hard.
I was stationed overseas and sent out the strangest Christmas cards the year I went through my divorce. Been over 20 years and I still remember writing, "It's cold and dark before 4:30, wife's leaving and taking the kids back to the states. Will miss the kids, but still having the time of my life." It was social connections that got me through. It takes a toll, but you'll get through it, too.
I caught my husband of 17 years having an affair on October 20 last year. Couldn't get him to move his cheating ass out of my house until December 2. He managed to fuck up Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, the New Year, and my January birthday for me. I'm in a much better head-space this year and looking forward to enjoying all those holidays. I hope this is all a temporary condition for you, as well.
Nooo!! I lost 220 pounds in my divorce and I feel great! You will too after a while, everyone has their own timeline.
I recommend a scary book, scary movie, or haunted house to get you out of your funk. If you really want to hit the mark, visit Salem!???
@shebaloney um, no, they just suck the fun out of you so it takes a minute to rejuvenate. Don’t sweat it, Halloween will be here when you’re ready. I keep some decorations up year round!
Yes I do, I'm so sorry you are feeling like this, maybe if you check out all the fun posts in my group you can get some distraction and even inspiration. Here..."I Love Halloween!" Group
