I'm probably the odd man out here, but I actually liked the movie.
Sure it wasn't as good as the books, but I still liked it.

I liked it

The books are awesome, pitty that the movie was so bad as a movie and as an adaptation.
But have you tried Discworld?

@propagandazoo1 sci-fi always go for Asimov's books, or short stories collections.
If you are going to Discworld try the small gods. It's a noe shot already on the "developed phase" of the series. So you get the style but won't lose the references.
The first books are awesome, but it was not mature yet, too random.
After some boks the universe "stabilized" the books became more plot driven, thematic and less dependent on random jokes to work. Overall better.
