I was never brought up with any religion as a kid, so I was never a believer. But I've been living in a mostly Christian area for the last decade or so. I do have some friends that are believers, but we get along great, we just never bring up our beliefs to each other.Problem is that most others judge me as a horrible person, and that I'm going to hell, how can I have morals with out god. etc. I saw this site, and thought it would be great to be at a place where I can chat with others that have the same thoughts about god and religion.
I've been told that I have a big heart. I don't know if it's true or not but i try to do what I can to help others.
I also have a great sense of humor, and I like being around others that do as well.

I despise religion with every fiber of my being.

I've seen quite a few debates between believers, and non-believers. A good part of them were civil, which I like, I like good conversation as well. But I have to say that Sye Ten Bruggencate is the biggest tool I've ever seen. He is a broken record of circular reasoning. I've seen many interviews of those who had debated him, and they all say the same thing, "never again". I don't blame them.
How close have you come to being what you wanted to be when you grow up?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 11, 2018:
Well, when I was a kid I was SO into the Apollo, and mercury missions, so I wanted to be an astronaut. my room was filled with posters, books, and models of space stuff. Then as I grew a little and wanted to be a musician, And I've been doing that the the rest of my life. I also wanted to work with computers. I have 2 BA's in computer fields. I also wanted to be a Chef, did that as well. So, pretty much besides the astronaut thing, I've done every thing i wanted. And to be honest. I don't think I'll ever grow up. I think I will still find things to want to do, and do it.

I'm not one much lyrics, I'm more about the music. I don't think Believer, or non-believer has anything to do with it. TristanNuvo comments on Oct 10, 2018:
I've had that a few times. Some were good because there was never a thought of commitment from either of us. Some, not so much, one or the other eventually wanted more, and that pretty much ruined it.

It was a road trip for some, and they went to visit quite a few people, and some joined them when they came to florida to see me. The one thing I got right off the bat was that all of us were exactly the same IRL as we were online, which was rather cool. we had such a great time, that we made it an annual thing. But since the site went down a few of us have lost communication with each other, some I still chat with on FB, but it's just not the same.. So I know the feeling of meeting online friends IRL. Does evil exist? As non-believers do we still accept the concept of evil in its pure form?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 7, 2018:
I think that (evil) is subjective. Some people do some shit things, yet also do good things too. does that make them evil? I think there is a sinner, and saint in every one, No one is pure anything. Even killing. there are times when it is a bad thing, and there are times when it is good. A whale kills more shrimp and fish in one week than all of the tyrants that ever lived. Do we call the whale evil? I guess that anything could be good or bad depending on ones point of view.

I still hold to this day. and another is sarah mclachlan. The first time I saw 'Adia" I fell in love with her. TristanNuvo comments on Oct 5, 2018:
The best I've ever read was from Christians misquoting Einstien. They use this one a lot “In the view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what makes me really angry is that they quote me for support of such views.” But Albert had a great retort to this: “It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.”

Doubt vs gullibilty
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 3, 2018:
I've mentioned this in another post a bit ago. I find that planting seeds works wonders. i've had conversations with many believers, some are great friends. I learned that it's never a good thing to try and force any one to think differently than they do. However, what I do is listen to what they have to say. Then I'll say how I view things politely. Some times it gets into a great conversation. But I think that a lot of believers, especially the very religious have been mislead at what an Atheist, or non-believer is like. for instance i've heard from many that said things like, you seem very nice, and not judgemental, you seem to enjoy life, and you seem like a nice person, I would not have thought that. That seed of showing that their misconceptions about Atheists were not what they were told. That kind of seed has the potential to have a believer take pause and think. I've known many because of that, ended up questioning their own beliefs.

I was 16. After been thrown into a wall by my father, who was very abusive to me my whole life. I walked up to my room, packed a few things and left. As I passed him, I said. You no longer have a son.And I meant it. Those were the last words i ever said to him. I ended up being taken in by my aunt and uncle. one of the first things I remember reflecting one the whole thing was that I made a solem promise that I would never be like him, I would never treat another human being like that ever. And I've stuck to that my whole life since.
