Are you active with a local humanist, atheist, freethinker, etc group? Why or why not?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 18, 2018:
Most of my off time is spent volunteering at a homeless shelter, so no time for it. Also, I've been an atheist my whole life, I was not brought up in a religious household, so I don't really need any kind of support group.
This was my first exposure to Soundgarden.

How to you handle being single in a partnered world?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 18, 2018:
For me it comes down to how well do I do being by myself. It took me a long time to get comfortable with that. But since I have, I've lessened the ' need' for lack of a better word, to enjoy life with out a SO. But I do have a few friends, some are single, some are couples, and there is never an uncomfortable feeling from any of us when we hang out. Honestly, it never really bothers me like it used to when I was younger.

TristanNuvo comments on Oct 18, 2018:
I've done both. Each had it's good and bad. Sometimes the person you meet is not at all what they seem on line. But I did get to meet a few friends a few years ago from an old site we all belonged to, and we were all pleasantly surprised at just how much we all were just as we thought we were. We still get together usually once a year. It's a little hard because we all live fairly far away, but very much worth the trip.

TristanNuvo comments on Oct 17, 2018:
I'm not really much into names. But when asked, I will say that I am an Agnostic Atheist. Atheist, because I don't believe in any such nonsense of a deity or anything like that. The Agnostic, is because I don't have any empirical evidence to prove it either way. I also Will add Anti-theist, because of the harm that religion has, and still does cause quite a bit of harm. I think a lot of people that have let go of such beliefs, at some point show somewhat of a resentment towards religion (understandidly so), because of all the harm it does. Personally, I was never a believer, I was not brought up in a religious household. But the more and more I learn of what religion has, and still does, I will spek out about it. IMHO, religion should be looked at with contempt, and ridicule.

I have over 8 terabytes of movies, and whole series with every episode of a great many shows as well. One of my favorite things to do is look through and watch something I haven't seen in a while. which would include every thing i have. If it's not worth watching again, it doesn't stay on the drives.

This thought brings me back to another post about "friends with benefits". In my time I've had a few. some worked out rather well because we both agreed that our friendship was more than letting romantic feelings get in the way of that. The only times that it went south was one one or the other grew to want more, and that always ends badly because both are not on the same page. That's just my take, I'm sure that doesn't apply to others.

TristanNuvo comments on Oct 13, 2018:
Where there are people involved there will always be dissonance. For example, There are hundreds of sects of Christianity, so even they can't all agree. The only thing that Atheists, Agnostics, freethinkers, etc. have in common is they all (for the most part) don't believe in a god, or gods. We all have vastly different ideas about every other aspect of life and the universe. Same as believers. To say that we ( Atheists, Agnostics, freethinkers, etc) are more educated, and intelligent is just silly, and historically inaccurate. For example; Isaac newton, Micheal Faraday, Gallileo, and many other very intelligent and giants in their field were all devout Christians. Even today there are believers, albeit a minority, of elite Scientists that are tops of their fields. Francis Collins for one, Kennith R Miller another. plus many more. In all honesty I am glad there is an amount of some sort of dissonance even here on this site. Life would be fucking boring if every one believed and thought the same about everything.

thinking of bands from years ago popped another in my head, and looked it up. Glad I did because just listening to this song brought back many great memories. The thing for me is that U2 was like our pet band that no one knew about, but we all played the shit out of them. But somehow after they hit the mainstreem, a bunch of us lost interest. not to say that they haven't made some great songs since, but I still love my back pocket garage band. For me it's bitter sweet. I have a lot of friends from where I grew up with in CT. that I have kept in touch with, and I also have some friends I knoe from another blog site that we actually got to meet IRL. Usually they will come down to Clearwater Florida, where I live, which is great. There is a tone to do here, from the great beaches, to fishing in the Gulf, to that many restaurants ( seafood mostly), to sailing and viewing dolphins etc. I live when they all come down, and it's great that my new friends and old get along rather well. But when they all leave I sort of feel hollow. I hate that feeling.

What are some of your favorite atheist/agnostic songs and song lyrics?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 10, 2018:
I'm not one much lyrics, I'm more about the music. I don't think Believer, or non-believer has anything to do with it. Remember that a great deal of opera's, Symphonies, And other classical music was made from composers that were influenced by god. Art, and Architecture follow into that catagory as well.
What are your feelings about "Friends with Benefits"?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 10, 2018:

It was a road trip for some, and they went to visit quite a few people, and some joined them when they came to florida to see me. The one thing I got right off the bat was that all of us were exactly the same IRL as we were online, which was rather cool. we had such a great time, that we made it an annual thing. But since the site went down a few of us have lost communication with each other, some I still chat with on FB, but it's just not the same.. So I know the feeling of meeting online friends IRL. I'm really happy that you all got to do that.

Does evil exist? As non-believers do we still accept the concept of evil in its pure form?
TristanNuvo comments on Oct 7, 2018:
I think that (evil) is subjective. Some people do some shit things, yet also do good things too. does that make them evil? I think there is a sinner, and saint in every one, No one is pure anything. Even killing. there are times when it is a bad thing, and there are times when it is good. A whale kills more shrimp and fish in one week than all of the tyrants that ever lived. Do we call the whale evil? I guess that anything could be good or bad depending on ones point of view.
