Republicans are cheating again.

some republicans are telling their constituents the wrong date to vote, some even saying the date is different for democrats and republicans (funnily enough, the date is two days late for democrats) or that you should mail in your absentee ballot two days after election day. this is not a new tactic. they do this every election year.

one group (not a candidate) is sending out fake mailers, pretending to be progressives, telling democrats that their candidate is not progressive enough, urging them to write someone else in. i think this one is fairly effective because i keep seeing lots of progressive friends buying into this all year long; now that it's almost election day, it's more intense.

rachel maddow is at this moment reporting on this, and on threatening billboards in black neighborhoods.

all this is happening on top of ordinary ugly voter suppression (like closing polling places in minority areas and closing down the dmv all over the place but especially in minority areas).

meanwhile trump is declaring that democrats want to give free cars to immigrants (or did he specify illegal immigrants?) republicans are pounding their chests promising that the democrats want to take away protections for people with preexisting conditions, while they, the republicans (you know -- the ones who keep voting NOT to protect such people) are the guardians of our health. do they really think no one remembers? sadly, they might be right!

Cheating is what they do best. They have been doing it for quite a while now! If they don’t cheat they don’t win.
