Yes, you're definitely on to something there. The other side is evil. Nothing the other side has to say could have merit. Excommunicate them from the discussion etc.

@Filiusnatura Good question. I think in principle, it was understood as God/Satan and now is understood as opposing value systems. In application, it is the acts of the opposing ideological groups. Subjectivity can convert a positive value to a negative. Objectivity will judge the actions of the two groups by the value system handed to us by our Judeo-Christian cultural heritage.
