First lets be clear, the report does not say the climate change controversy is a fraud. In fact is asserts that the danger is even more dire than we or the Paris signers feared. His claim that the benchmarks are insufficient to meet the needs to halt the temperature rise.

I'm going to speculate here (I might be wrong, but I'm a cynic). Your posting and the way that you introduced it, its possible that you are saying "See. Its all a hoax. Global warming is a fraud."

While the message of the Paris Accord was overly optimistic, its benefit is in a near universal acknowledgement that a problem exists.

That leaves a couple of ways we can look at it. One, we can say the world was deceived by the Paris agreement, so nothing should be done to stop the inevitable. Or. two. we can say that our estimates were overoptimistic, but lets continue to work toward a solution. Knowing how fast scientific and technological advances occur, by continuing to focus on the problem, it's possible that we might find a solution before the worst case scenario occurs.

So if that statement alone convinces one that science is wrong. That is dumb. In addition the Paris Climate Agreement was set up to provide basics and with that it is a start as no nation is required to do anything. It is like your home is flooding and you say what go upstairs, we will be flooded up there also. Why try to escape anything if you are doomed, but the human being is just as all other species, we will try to save our lives , just giving up is so republican like the ebola scare. investors dot com is your go-to source about a climate agreement? that ALONE raises alarms. but the agreement was certainly no fraud. if you want to identify a fraud, go look at 1600 pennsylvania avenue. there is a fraud living there.

The agreement itself is not taking effect until 2020, and and US is part of it until November of 2020.

Misleading nonsense. It wasn't a fraud it was a tiny step in the right direction which everybody knew wasn't enough. Acting like that wasn't the case shows how little the author of the article understands the issue.
