I like to eat meat. Nothing against veggies, I have some best buds who are veggies. I believe we are part of the food chain, whith the fortunate privilege of intellect. Three cheers for a great steak ????
This is actually a great philosophical debate to have..... Nature is brutal. Ever seen a chicken scarf down a piece of beef and eventually choke on it? One could argue, if humans don't eat the bodies of deceased organisms, another living creature will...
Here is my counter-argument. We as humans, don't eat the bodies of other humans. Well, at least most of us don't - we'd consider that cannibalism. This credo. in theory, makes us a higher organism. We have the intelligence and the empathy to say, there are other ways to exist without needing the sustenance of other lives.
Which brings me to my alien theories. Anyone whom has ever seen "V", has seen the theory that they would be here for our resources. Most likely they have destroyed their own planet and need to exploit ours. Naturally we would be food because we are the lower organism - we haven't developed the skills to invade other solar systems.. But my argument is, if you are smart enough to travel through space and possibly time, couldn't you solve your problems on a non-inhabited-by-hostile-organisms planet? Isn't that where we all should be? If we have the knowledge and the choice to ease suffering for any other organisms shouldn't we do that?
Think of nature and dog fights. When you see two dogs in a dog fight, they are only following their natural instincts for survival. They have no other option. Shmoo does not have the intellect, the ability, nor the resources to start a garden and live a vegan life. If we let him run wild on I-174, he would be scavenging small rodents(maybe) - ok maybe crickets. Well, at least a fly..My point is we have a choice in the matter. Maybe we should think about our options.
