"Getting it" (Enlightenment) is bestowed upon you when you reach level 6.

It keeps us from being overrun by religious troublemakers. You have to make an amount of valid contribution before you are allowed to post freely. I appreciate it. Even closed Facebook groups are full of people who just want to ruin the discussion.

The levels are in indirect proportion to how much of a life you have.

you get access to more features as you gain levels, which you do by just participating. it's to reward participation. sometimes it leads to members' making garbage posts just to get points but for the most part we ignore levels and are happily surprised when we reach a new one.
