So, I live in Southeast Texas (Beaumont area). We recently experienced the worst flooding in recorded history for areas that have never had flood waters. My daughter and I lost our rental property, and have been living in a travel trailer for a few months now. I being a minimalist am freaking overjoyed, and honestly don't want to go back to cleaning 1200 sq. ft. again! lol... My question is; is anyone else enjoy small simple homes? Or do you require a large spread? I know many with big families obviously require something bigger than this, so thats a given. 🙂

I think the ideal would be small personal spaces and large communal spaces.

no, i only want what I need really. more land would be awesome but I could have a smaller house happily.

I am so sorry to hear that you were one of the flooding victims! I hope you are safe and finding your way, now. I am not in a 5th wheel, because of flooding... I am there by choice. And, I love it so much, I may never go back to a larger place! Every thing is at my fingertips and I can clean the place in an hour! That leaves time for other more meaningful experiences! In the area of New Mexico, where I have relocated, many, many people live in RV and motorhomes! And, there are few complaints...if any! Best of luck to you...

Thank you! And we are fine honestly. I agree it's perfect for my four year old and I. Not to mention, when we travel, no need for expensive motels. lol

I'm building a tiny house! It's on 96 acres. I'll take land over an object anyday. Houses are just boxes. I can pick up a box just about anywhere🙂

I had the rare opportunity and responsibility of building my own home. The equivalent of 4 bedrooms. After divorce and it’s forced sale, sorting through even ‘the best of stuff’ was painful, cuz I couldn’t take it all with me, and has left me shell shocked over ‘stuff.’ As much as I love (glass anything) antiques.. 2 days ago I again walked past several stores, I need no more.

The family is grown and off, and I love my new ‘little place,’ 2 bedrooms and just under 1,000 sq ft. Even down from multiple acres, to not quite one.. A minimalist at heart, it’s so much easier to run a tight ship. Welcome aboard 🙂

Divorce I think was my reason for going "minimalist" as well. That was 11 years ago, so. Sorry to hear of your split. And you're right, it is indeed easier!

In my native language we have this expression "To know 2 and 200". Would be perfectly fine with a small space, but provided I can afford it - I would go for something that offers more space.

I live in a pretty small amount of space, but it's enough for me. I don't need more.
It definitely doesn't take long to clean. I'm about to find out how long it's going
to take to paint it.

@Donotbelieve Thank you! I've picked the color. Took me months to decide. Now, I just have to go get all the supplies.

I am trying the minimalist thing. I'm getting pretty good at it. I went from 2000 square feet to under 700 square feet. It's nice not to have a whole lot of stuff around to clean or dust. You know how it gets here in Texas.

ALL too well!
