I think this report is BS. An NIH report says,

"...these findings suggest that a protective effect is seen among Asian American women who continue consuming moderate levels of soy on a daily basis compared with Asian American women who adopt Western dietary habits." [ncbi.nlm.nih.gov]

This report is confusing. Studies on mice have shown increased risk of breast cancer, but we are not mice, some of us, anyway🙂

@Captnron59 I think the WebMD article indicates similar results to the NIH study. Thus, I dug further. Harvard.edu has an article that says,

"Soy and cancer. Studies of colon, lung, prostate, and ovarian cancer suggest that soy does have anticancer properties. The caveat is that many of these results are from case-control studies, which aren't the most reliable type of study. The relationship between soy and breast cancer has been difficult to sort out. Several important studies failed to show any kind of protective effect, but studies conducted in Asia have. It could be that any benefit is related to consumption in childhood and early adult life. Some researchers have speculated that a certain amount of soy may need to be consumed before breast cancer protection kicks in. How much? The threshold might be 10 milligrams of isoflavones a day, which could be achieved — and then some — by consuming a standard, 80-gram serving of tofu every day."

@Captnron59 Tofu has almost no flavor and a suishy texture that prevented me from eating it, till recently. I found a recipe to make nuggets that have a meat like texture, with almost no flavor, so you need something like honey-mustard as a dip. Still, it's an acquired taste, not for all.

Meh, I avoid it, anyway, because it causes goitre in folks with thyroid disease.

From WebMD,com

"Researchers aren’t certain how large amounts of soy affect breast cancer risk. In one early study, soy supplements were shown to “switch on” genes that encourage cancer growth in women with early-stage breast cancer."

I'm willing to accept this source as reputable but even it cannot state with any assurance one way or another.

Realfarmacy is not a legit source of anything medical
