Hurt as little as possible. Help as much as able. Have loads of fun doing it.

It means that at the end of it I can be more proud than ashamed of how I conducted myself throughout my lifetime.

How about: getting shot & killed by a jelous husband at 96?

Totally subjective.

So what's your own subjective answer then?

@Flettie To live the life I've led.

Live ones life in the context of death. Do the things you want to do so that on your death bed you have little regrets. Death is the equaliser and the only thing that truly brings meaning. Apart from that, meditate, contemplate, exercise, read, pick a hobby for three things - one that makes you money, one that channels creativity and one that kips you fit. Lastly, surround yourself with people that are better than you and can help you aspire to be better.

Great question!

Now I want to screen "Saving Private Ryan" again.

It means whatever an individual believes it means.
It's subjective, and there is no one "right" answer.

Of course... There would be little point in posing the question otherwise. Is this really a debating forum?

First do no harm, then live the life you would want yourself to end up proud of.

I get the greatest reward from helping people in need.

Since 2006, I have been a volunteer college mentor at Wenatchee High School. I help low income, first generation students write essays for college and scholarship applications. It thrills me to send these kids to college.

One of my best success stories is Brenda, who won $269,545 in scholarships in 2016. A sophomore at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, Brenda plans to become a medical doctor and pathologist. She hopes to cure diseases

Hiking brings me tremendous joy. I feel lucky to have eyes to see, a strong body to climb steep trails, and a heart that appreciates the beauty of nature.

I feel happiest and most centered high in the mountains. Photos were taken in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Except for Necklace Valley, the hikes were in the sunny, east side of the Cascades where I live.

  1. Beautiful Spider Meadows, WA.

  2. Sunset lit the cliffs AFIRE, first gold, then red. Emerald Lake in Necklace Valley, WA.

  3. Mother mountain goat and kid, Ingalls Lake, WA.

  4. Climbing Rock Mountain, WA.

  5. High alpine lakes above Necklace Valley, WA.

@Shelton

Thanks. I will add the locations.

There are as many answers to that as there are, and have been, people on earth. My own answer is something like this: For me, a good life is situating myself and living in such a way that I have freedom and control over my own life, the decisions I make, the people I see, the relationships that I keep, the work that I do, and how much I contribute to the betterment of humanity. That I am able to exert my own will over my life is central to me living a "good" life. Living according to my values and ideals, as I define them, is extremely gratifying to me. It is perhaps a bit existential, but being free to exercise my own choices in life, and utilizing those choices to increase meaning, is central to a good life.

Can't respond any better than this. ^
