Is it possible to live a normal life and not ever tell a lie?
Nearly everyone lies on a regular basis, if only to maintain social harmony. Therefore, a "normal" or average life would entail telling routine lies. So, no, by definition, a "normal" life involves lying.
I don't think that I lie. Am I being dishonest with myself? Is that why I'm single? How often do you get in situations where you have to lie? How about not answering and changing the subject.
By extension of this thought, are there truly "lies of omission"?
@Diogenes1972 "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." I will give an honest opinion, even if negative, if explicitly asked for it. I have had friends tell me that they come to me for that. I don't offer such thoughts otherwise.
I find it a whole lot easier to be honest & accept the consequences & not put myself in that position to where I would feel I would have to lie. I never lied to George & I don't lie to my kids. (My daughter was really pissed about that Santa Clause thing!) Integrity is very important to me. I demand it in others, so I have to demand it in myself.
