"Democrats crude attempts to stamp out any dissent or intraparty discord negates a stark truth: liberal America’s pattern of electing corporate Democrats – rather than progressives – has been a big part of the problem that led to Trump and that continues to make America’s economic and political system a neo-feudal dystopia" David Sirota The Guardian.com
Continuing to do this expecting different results is INSANE. Literally
Been saying and thinking this for a long time.
100% - I'm still wary of their recent proposed bills to stamp out corruption in politics as a possible attempt to unify the base with honey instead of vinegar while not really being true to progressive ideals. I'd like to believe they got the hint but I wouldn't bet on it.
There is very little difference between democrats and liberals in the US, both have no interest in ordinary Americans. It is time for the US citizens to realize it.
I would say that with all due respect 1) that is a very sweeping generalization that as a result of its vague nature has little or no meaning; 2) I would like to ask which group or groups do you believe have the "interest in ordinary Americans"?
@KenChang No group with any power has interest in us. We gotta fight them ourselves.
@Seeker3CO Really? what have the democrats done for the people in last 30 years? Tell ya what they've done for the rich- nafta, deregulating fcc, glass steagall act junked, gutted welfare, mass incarceration to private prisons, failed to prosecute the bankers, dumped antitrust enforcement, stomped out unions, Wall St speeches, shall I continue? Both parties are filthy and ignoring that will inevitably bring about our demise.
The problem is the passivity of the American citizenry when it comes to political candidates. They expect to sit around while someone else presents "choices" and when none of the "choices" are palatable, they loudly complain for the lack of real choice. But the problem is that we do have some power to create other choices. Get involved. If you don't like the Democrats, go join the green party, and there are smorgasbord of different flavors of socialist parties to choose from. But if you are not doing that, do you have the moral standings to complain about the Democrats? They are at least doing something.
There is a good argument that the Democratic party needs to be "Occupied." If we cannot hope to bring a political revolution WITHIN the democratic party, what hope do we have bringing that about in the wider arena of the national politics?
I'm an independent. The Democrats corporatism is exactly why I refuse to join the party. It's a shame that Democrat refuse to learn from thier past mistakes. I have some hope that the newly elected progressives will make some inroads to reform the party. Maybe, I'm just kidding myself.
Hope Springs eternal:
I can't read this. When I expand it, it loses resolution unfortunately
sorry about that. here is link to image [theliberalnetwork.com]
@jniece thanks yes . I agree Democrats are a weak opposition party and the republicans have all the guns. And they are much crazier.
