Yes you do but they have to be rude to you first and even then it is not worth the effort.

@Jolanta Actually the guilt you feel about punching some total asshat in the face for being persistently obnoxious isn't enough to diminish the satisfying feeling of feeling their face get smashed in by your fist. Usually a good verbal dressing down is adequate but sometimes you just have to go that extra mile.

@Surfpirate I know what you mean, however, that satisfaction only last a second and then, what, you are left with is a feeling that you have to justify your actions, that what you did was right, but you know it was not.

@Jolanta You would be surprised at how long that satisfaction actually lasts. I should warn people that want to try the physical route that you will also get hit, all that kung fu shit where the master never gets a scratch on him is just in the movies.

@Jolanta Yes, the 4th broken nose was as painful as the first one. lol Thank goodness we grow out of those shenanigans eventually.

@Jolanta Not really, I gave better than I got and I never bent a knee. I never picked a fight but I refused to back down when pushed by those who chose to try and pick a fight, it's about integrity and honour which may sound strange to some but others will understand completely.

@Jolanta That's what the ENT doctor said before he did the rhinoplasty and reset it because I was having trouble breathing. 2 weeks with popsicle sticks up my nose but it was much better and I haven't had a physical confrontation since. Often the threat of physical violence behind a well reasoned argument is more effective than physical violence.

@Surfpirate I wonder why it comes to it, the violence I mean. Why can people just understand that we don't feel or think the same, after all our experiences are so different.

@Jolanta I suppose it has a lot to do with the age old conflict between the smart people realizing that if we all work together and treat each other decently and fairly then everyone will be better off compared to the knuckle dragging bully who sees that he can get what he wants by force which is good for him but bad for everybody else. Having a well reasoned argument is a great thing but unless you are prepared to back it up with force there will always be those who will insist upon testing your resolve. It probably didn't help that I tended to live on both sides of the tracks and enjoyed both lifestyles; I never had my nose broken by anyone from the right side of the tracks.
