Do you beleive that Humanity will outlive the earth, or the earth will outlive Humanity?
So, Iv seen a few references to evolution here and a few people asking "at what point will we not be Human anymore"... My response is this, to me; Humanity is a frame of mind. Not the way we look. Our actions define us as Human, as long as we continue to do the best we can, Humanity will continue. Call me an idealist, but that's my belief.
So...it's possible that Elon Musk may be able to accomplish his goal of ferreting off a small portion of humanity into the stars before we manage to completely destroy ourselves. What then? Our very genetics have been compromised by pollution, synthetic drugs with unknown long-term effects, and the stress of modern life. Would those lucky few be able to overcome the ticking time bombs in our DNA and breed healthy offspring that could keep our species from going the way of the dinosaurs? Maybe. But at some point they would need to evolve to adapt fully to their new environments. Eventually they would have changed so much that they would be a new species altogether. Would that still count as "humanity"? What about those who replace parts of their fleshly body with technology? Are they still "humanity"?
In short, maybe...
