Christmas for us heathens.
Most of you will know that Christmas is a tacked on holiday. That it was adopted by christianity from pre-christian celebrations, Rather like big corporations will sponsor a major sporting event and call it the Coca-cola cup.
Other holes in the nativity story also spring to mind. The census for one. Okay I get that the romans might have wanted a body count but why make everyone go to their home town? They were not stupid,. The upheaval of all that traveling? The loss of revenue? Can you imagine the British empire making everyone in India, Canada or Malawi go back home to be counted?
So lets just leave the theists to their fairytale and celebrate the days getting longer.

I love Yule time. Yule is a great celebration.

Yule-tide it part of our ritual, it is not just the equinox. This is when you made the decision what stock you can keep through the winter and what gets slaughtered. You can only preserve so much so a feast in in order. Invite your friends, neighbors and family. Then sit around with a full belly and talk, play music and catch up. The worst of winter is coming, the days are at their shortest. Time to cheer up and be merry.

I prefer to celebrate life in general, pretty days especially! Took a long walk alone on ‘thanksgiving,’ and may do the same on their christ mass … cuz when the foolishness has died down ..I’ll continue to relish those pretty days 🙂 ...as we head toward George Harrison’s birthday, of which I share ~

I live on the Beatles tour route. As you know George was a very spiritual guy. The mantas he so loved are ritualistic. PS. My fav George story. Micheal Palin was going to Australia. So George said "When you fly over India. Open this and read it." This must be something deeply spiritual thought Palin. So duly over the sub-continent. Micheal cleared is thoughts and opened the envelope to read the words of wisdom his friend had given him. It contained just five words "Shag a sheila for me"

I like the non religious part of Christmas. The origin of the holiday is for the birds.
