All I know is that I lived over there for a few years in the 90s. I was about forty at the time. I found the older generation delightful, kind and so helpful I couldn't believe it. The younger generation were caught up in the dog-eat-dog mentality and completely absorbed with themselves. That said, there were always people who broke the mould. For all of these good people, I am grateful for their good hearts in a society that I found very harsh.
