I'm not sure that religious faith invariably results in "peace of mind and happiness" or that the search for truth always produces angst. However, I think it's important to value dealing in reality over the failed epistemology of religious faith, even when gratification is delayed / harder to come by.

I can testify that religious faith caused me enough suffering that I exited from it. And irreligion has been sufficiently superior that I've stayed with it.

Love those last 2 sentences, but didn't completely understand the first. Lost in translation perhaps?

No, just because a supposed noteable philosopher said something doesn't mean it makes sense.

@Carin Just go back and read them carefully, it is a perfect indictment of blind faith and the corruption it has wrought on reason.
@Lerlo I am so glad you feel intellectually equipped to criticise one of the greatest thinkers of all time, I look forward to reading your body of work, where can I find it?

@LenHazell53 Actually you can find some of my work reading the briefs in the assisted suicide cases of Dr. Jack Kevorkian before the Michigan Supreme Court where I obtained a 7-0 decision. Didn't mean to tread on your idol or dare to suggest that everything he said wasn't
golden gospel. A mere mortal having an opinion, shocking!
Can you imagine an actual philosopher disagreeing with him? Wow...check that I Q!!!! Want to give me a heads up on who else not to dare question?
