I'm sorry to say that as an American I don't know as much about Brexit issues as I should due to the political circus here in our country. Is Theresa May a UK populist counter part to trump?

Brexit is a nightmare - especially in the short term. But seriously, how many people have given a thought to the long-term consequences of being in the EU when the Euro zone finally collapses - and collapse it will, mark my words.
There are 19 eurozone countries in the EU. Each has differing financial needs. Most of the Southern nations needs highish interest rates to control inflation and speculation. Many more need moderate rates. However, the ECB, based in Brussels, sets very low rates that favour German industry. That is the root cause of the financial recession that hit Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Ireland. Some have partially recovered, at tremendous cost to employment and growth. Some are still in deep trouble. Italy is skating on thin ice right now.
One day, the eurozone will crash, with disastrous consequences, unless some form of two-tier euro is created, with differing central banks - another nightmare. It is in Britain's LONG-TERM interest to hold the EU at arm's length, not cuddle up.
Remind me of this visionary post in a few year's time.

I’d love to know what the Queen and the rest of the “firm” think about the shambolic Mrs.May and her Conservative Cabinet of congenitally cretinous chumps......to keep to the alliteration, the chimps at London Zoo could run a country better! I think “Rule Brittania “will have to be changed to “Rule Englandia” in a short space of time, when Scotland votes themselves out of the Union and Northern Ireland votes for reunification with the Irish Republic. Brexit may do what 30 years of IRA bombing couldn’t achieve.

@darien75 old Lizzie as you put it doesn’t have any political power, she is just the head of state. I think you are wrong, the Queen is not a Nazi supporter....that is not a good remark to make.

@Marionville If I'm not mistaken, the monarch can dissolve parliament, right? Although I'm not really sure what effect that has on anything.

@bingst She is what they call Apolitical....has to be neutral politically....since the restoration of the monarchy in 1660. Parliament is sovereign and the monarch only rubber stamps what happens there. The Act of Settlement of 1701 further reduced the powers of the monarch. Although it is called the Royal prerogative to dissolve parliament it can only be done on the advice of the Prime Minister. Mrs May can be removed from her position by her own party...the Tories, staging a coup, and then that would trigger a General Election. The government is called Her Majesty’s, but she has no say over what that government is comprised of.....it depends on the political makeup and who can get a majority. The last king to have the power over parliament was Charles 1 and he was tried by parliament for treason and beheaded in 1649. We had the English Civil war prior to that and Oliver Cromwell formed a Commomwealth and ruled until 1660 when Charles II and the monarchy were restored, but with much reduced powers.

@darien75 no she doesn’t...read the history books. I have left a very short account of the constitutional history here for you. You really must not post remarks that are complete fabrication.

@darien75 Have it your own way, but if you post inaccuracies I have the right to correct them. There are no such things as alternative facts....there are facts and lies.
