For men only:

We're you in a fist fight as a youngster?
Did you get a split lip?
A black eye?
A broken nose?

Was the other guy bigger and stronger than you?
Do you consider the experience physical abuse?
Did you suffer life long trauma because of the altercation?
Why or why not?

Do you also feel the need to go on every website and complain about getting beat up that you experienced 20 30 40 50 years ago?

Why or why not?

Anyone, other than a bully, who has ever gotten into a fist fight knows the one who 'wins' is as often as not, the one willing to take the worst beating without 'saying uncle'. The cause of the fight, I think, has everything to do with how a person reflects on it. Whether it was about survival (if only social) and defense or was about gain and conquest can define how one looks back on it and associated trauma. Some can be as traumatized by what they've done to another as what was done to them, if the cause wasn't felt to be 'righteous' on their part. Who hasn't regretted such things? Who hasn't looked back with embarrassment on early behaviors with the light of maturity?

In life there are 2 types of people. those who carve paths and those who are constantly and consistently stuck in 2 inch potholes. for simplicity we can call them leaders and victims. a leader is bound to create tension, a victim is bound to attract tension. the difference, so it seems to me, is, if a leader is attacked, every black eye, broken bone, or bloody nose pales in conparison to the newfound nowledge of ones own capabilities and motivations to better onesself to prevent the next black eye. the victim expects to get his ass kicked and acts in ways to further the abuse. id claim there is no better way to leaen more about onesself, especially as a child, than a 5 minute test of wills.

There was one guy in highschool who was hell bent on fighting me. He was bigger than me and definitely meaner. I finally decided to just go out and get my ass kicked, and get it over with. He was giving me a pretty good beat down. It was weird because I really wasn't feeling anything. I noticed he was starting to suck air pretty hard. He was a smoker and I ran cross country. At that time the Vice Principal came and broke it up. To this day I think he was getting tired of punching me, and I could of had a chance. People laughed when I said that. No, I wasn't traumatized. There is a lot more to the story, but I'm tired of texting. Only fight I was ever in....

@Stevil sort of I guess

@Stevil never thought of that

Luckily, the most fights I ever got into were on friendly grounds. My friends and I were simply bored and wanted the thrill of fighting each other. As a result we'd never aim for the face, and all the fights ended when one of us was either too tired or managed to hit the other in the solar plexus.

Yeah. Got in a couple. First one I gave the guy a concussion and got away unscathed, next one (same guy) happened in school and we both got suspended. Then the last one, the current boyfriend of my ex-girlfriend jumped me, bit me on the back, pulled my hair and slammed my head on a car hood (what bitch moves, right?)

When I was young I can remember 4 fights won 2 lost 2 didn’t think of them as a traumatic experience or anything all 4 of the altercations happened before I was 20 I’m 46 now...
Black eye once in the first fight I won second fight I lost broke nose and pinky finger other 2 fights no real marks or broken bones.. and this was in the day before the internet so didn’t have the outlet to complain and or brag about my loss or win

I was picked on a lot for many reasons, very few fights, in fact I can't remember a one on one fight. I was attacked by groups a couple of times, and that didn't end great for me.

1 minor altercation in my entire life. No harm done to either party.

I grew up with an older brother, and I was a weird, nerdy kid. I got into a lot of fights. Black eyes, split lips, broken nose three times, chipped tooth two concussions and a lot of boxers fractures later I'm much more competent in my personal defense. I never started fights, and I sure as hell didn't win all of them, but I can claim a majority of victories. I've fought people bigger and smaller than myself and I find the small ones are quicker and hit harder. It's part of my past, I'm not ashamed of it, I'm not proud of it either.
