I got called about 9 last night, asking if I'd be able to do Grammy duty today. Austin (7 months old) has bronchiolitis, which mostly means a really crappy cold and he doesn't feel good. Neither parent has PTO because since he's been born they've just had a year of bad health and bad timing. My answer to Grammy duty will almost always be yes. Now Austin is sleeping and resting up. Wrangling babies can be quite a workout!
Austin is lucky to have such a good Grammy. RSV is making its rounds early this year (the most common cause of bronchiolitis), watch him for wheezing and seesaw breathing. And give him lots of grammy sugars
My Austyn is 7yo and not a big fan of nanny sugars But, he was already 5 when my oldest married his mom.
May not be relevant, but I had bronchiolitis when young because I was allergic to milk, which affected my lungs, making me sick several times every winter. When at 50 I stopped milk, my winter spate of colds stopped, too.
This little guy is allergic to the protein in milk and soy. It is called MSPI or Milk Soy Protein Intolerance. He has been on special formula since he was about 4 weeks old. The current bug is just a damn rotten lousy bug. His mother's cousin has Cystic Fibrosis that affects the lungs, so he has already been tested for that, and he is negative. It is just a given that children in daycare will be exposed to lots of bugs and frequently be sick. The upside in theory is that they will have a stronger immune system as they get older.
My oldest was daddy's girl pretty much the moment she came out of me. She was also BUSY!! It's horrible to say but I kind of enjoyed when she was sick because it was the only time she would cuddle with me.
You're a good grammy!
