My friends mom makes a loud sucking noise when she sucks mints. It's almost like a chewing gum "smacking" sound that comes out of her mouth. I rode with her family after having a meal at a restaurant. We were maybe in the car for 15 mins max but the sound was so infuriating that I wanted to knock the mint out of her mouth. I was sitting behind her in the car and I could see her mouth opening and closing, making that god awful "smack" noise through the passenger side mirror. I so badly wanted to say something and was assuming the others in the car (her family) would rise to the occasion, but no such luck. Seriously, who makes loud noises when you suck a mint?
mint was a white and red striped life saver sized mint
So my question is should I have asked the 55 ish year old mother to stop "smacking" her lips and making the horrible noise? Or let her continue on her mink sucking rampage?

Ha ha, I just now saw that. I'll leave the typo up there for good now. Yeah, she found some stray minks and started sucking them up lol.
listen for some kind of rhythm and make up lyrics.

There are times when some of the sounds set me off. Not always. um, I'll have to look into this.

In most of my jackets I carry 3 earplugs, I’d have put two of them in - the third is for when one goes missing. I use them at loud music events, shopping (speshally with the Xmass music & bell-ringers), driving with the windows down, walking busy streets … about anytime I need to seriously concentrate..
Most seem connected to earbuds & phones anymore, maybe for the same reasons. I’d say your situation was one to simply endure, after asking if ‘there’s anything on the radio?’ … and likely why ..finally able to, I’ll avoid many such events. Getting older has some perks.
