This guy is spot on. I have never sent a dick pic nor intend to (unless you consider sending a homemade adult video to a girl who was also involved so she could have a copy, at her request), but I digress lol. I have however been asked on a few occasions to send a pic of Wee Willy Wanker lol. Yeah, not going to happen though. The girls that asked for the pics were not relationship material. Not saying I didn't oblige them in private but not via pictures lol.

A women walks into your office and removes her clothes. Weellllllll...

But, a man shows is erect interest and the world ceases to exist.

Obviously men and women ARE different.

@OwlInASack . . . that men displaying their bits is considered rude is stoopid.

Since so many men are doing this, it has to beg the question ," Do the majority of men think women are attracted to dicks?"

And subsequently, "Do women enjoy looking at men's bits, but they don't want to acknowledge their interest?"

We should not conclude that men who do this are wrong, just because a few women don't like it.

@OwlInASack . . . I agree, basically. The described behavior of initial contact was not solicited. If there is a 2nd time after refusal that is harassment. Removal of the proffered organ might be in order.

Oh, he's adorable!

While there seems to be a general consensus this is bad, I want to point out that I have, on two separate occasions had requests for one. One of these women is now dead, but based on this video, I should clearly hunt down the other and do her in.

I also have, on two separate occasions, received the female counter-part. Now, I did not respond in kind, but this makes me wonder: why the double-standard?

My guess is: men and women have quite different ideas about what is OK to do. And if women want true equality in our society (and I believe they do), it might be wise to reflect on what that would look like. Which rules will we keep, and which ones will we do away with? And, the million-dollar question no one really WANTS to answer: who will get to decide?

Let's go a little deeper: men look for sexual viability in a woman. The most sought-after women virtually ooze fertility. This is programmed at a deep instinctive level. If this were NOT so, no woman ever would get breast-augmentation surgery (or the latest fad, labiaplasty). No one does these things "for themselves". So, it makes a weird kind of sense (to a man) for a man to advertise his OWN sexual viability (I have a penis, and it works, see?).

Women are different-they look for things that many men could give two shits about: mental stability, honesty, reliability and so on. This is ALSO genetically programmed: bat-shit crazy, lying, cheating ne'er-do-wells make crappy fathers.

The consensus seems to indicate that we should let (at least in the online dating world) the "women make the rules". While I personally have no objection to this, it's worth thinking about.

Sexual politics (and this IS a sexual political issue, about the appropriateness of a certain form of communication) and feminism are on a collision course. One, or perhaps both, schools of thought are going to take casualties. That is to say, if women want social equality but are unwilling to cede one iota of their sexual power, there's going to be trouble, and it's not going to be pretty.

@OwlInASack There doesn't HAVE to be. But there could be. Some feminists want their cake and be able to eat it, too. Look, I don't hate feminists, and I think the women's rights' movement has done a lot of good for our society, and there's more that can be done. Yet I have personally witnessed feminists discounting opinions solely because a male voiced them. And sure, MOST women won't send out vag pics unsolicited. However, I have yet to see or hear of public condemnation for any woman who had, whereas rants against dick pics are quite common. Heaven help the woman who says she's OK with them.

For the record, I'm not down with women's bodies being violated. But "boundaries"....that's a slippery slope, unless everything is made clear from the get-go. At some companies, you can be fired from looking at someone longer than 5 seconds, and perhaps paying a substantial settlement.

Biology is not to be taken so lightly. It's been around far longer than our society, and we've changed it little. Sexual politics aren't going anywhere, any time soon.

Also, I think the word you wanted was "misconception" (wrong thought), not "misnomer" (wrong name).

@pepperjones Well, I'm suing my mail-man for unsolicited mail, then.

@OwlInASack I'm not trying to create a straw man. And I don't lack empathy. Women still have it rough, in so many areas. I'm not a big fan of our patriarchal legacy.

I classify "kissing" as touching, which for me is a critical thing, like the boundary between "thought" and "action". It may be a while before I have to cross that particular bridge. Even hugging has fallen under this new pallor.

One of my concerns (and only time will tell if I am right) is that it will come to be the case that de facto, consent will be a thing only women can grant. This could be problematic, but we'll see.

The five-second thing is real-look up Netflix's corporate policy. It's not the case where I work, where there are just two female employees, both married, that sort of live in their own private world.

Respect ought to be a two-way street. Women often say: "well, you're a man, you can get away with this shit." Perhaps, but I DON'T. I'm not one of the ruling elite, and it strikes me as unfair I'm held to be part of the problem when I had no part in its creation. It's great that women aren't willing, these days, to accept the status quo, and by and large, I don't run into any significant issues with this. But again (and this is usually the case with only some of the more extreme feminists) I don't buy the argument that women are RIGHT, solely because they've been oppressed. I look at everything on a case-by-case basis.

In some ways, this is an uncomfortable area to explore. Which tells me we OUGHT to.

... Great spew. Thanks.
