Coming up on two years since I lost my wife to cancer. Two years today, we lost our daughter in law to a heart attack, aged 36. 25 years ago this month my father died and 23 years ago we lost my father in law. December has been shitty for a while. Need to keep up a good front for the younger brood: four of them, 3, 4, 5 & 6. Didn't think I'd ever want to hear laughter again. Then a forgotten video of my wife and our great grand son popped up, with her unable to not laugh at his shenanigans. I can smile again, at least for a while....
Happy Yule to all. Hope your holidays are festive and happy.

I have observed that as I get older that my losses seem to hitch themselves to past and current losses and they bring on sadness that might have been only mild. The important thing is to find whatever little joy and be grateful! As the heaviness does let up and it is always pronounced at holidays! Happy thoughts to you...

Thank you young lady. I think you are correct, grief can be cumulative...
