I am a believer in a creator ( God ) but i don't buy into the whole Jesus aspect. I wonder if there is a religion group that believes as I do.

Deism, some forms of Pantheism or Panentheism, various forms of mysticism like New Thought or even spiritualism, all have been known to borrow Christian memes and ideas without fully subscribing to them or deifying Jesus. Even Christian evangelicals recognize that some people see Jesus, not as god, but as a "great moral leader" or "great teacher", and see the Ten Commandments as Ten Suggestions.

So ... you can cherry pick whatever you want in terms of religion. And you might as well, because none of it can be demonstrated to be true.

Deism probably. Honestly the majority of people who have ever believed in a god likely didn't believe in Jesus. Christianity seems dominant in much of the western world but it's only really been going for 1500 years and some change. Human religion is much older and more varied but you could be forgiven for forgetting that in the US.

New Thought groups such as Unity use some of the teachings of Jesus but put a totally different and more rational slant on them, and they also teach concepts gleaned from other religions. And they require no belief.

I also do not call myself an atheist, because I lean toward the Hindu concept of Brahman or Ultimate Reality. So far I haven’t been run off from the forum but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Best wishes.

There are oodles of religions that do not include the Dead Jew on a Stick. Obviously none of them are christianity. You might try Islam, for example. They say the Big Guy's Kid is a prophet but not the Manager's son.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but why is it you feel you need a god? Is there something to be gained from such a thing, and if so, what is it?

judaism, to name one of many. there's more to it, though, than believing in a creator and not worshiping jesus (and while judaism does accept converts, it doesn't do so lightly, and there is studying involved, usually for about a year). you also have not said what kind of creator you believe in and what that creator means to you and that would influence what religion suited you best. i should also mention that asking on this particular site for a recommendation of a religion is... let's call it an interesting choice, since this isn't a site where people believe in a god but just not jesus. atheism isn't the opposite of christianity. this is a site where most of us are equal opportunity atheists/agnostics, and disbelieve in ALL gods, not just a particular one. (some may view it as being a bit like asking a vegan to recommend a cut of steak for you.) that doesn't mean you're not welcome and it doesn't mean you shouldn't ask, but be prepared for answers that you might not find satisfying, possibly including my own.

You are right but see my reply above to @Herbert54. He might be coming here from humanist.com, and we're going to see more and more of this kind of thing as a result. And I don't necessarily consider that a Bad Thing, although it's a bit annoying too, as it's going to introduce more ideas untethered from evidential standards.

You might want to try Judaism

Do you believe this god can intervene in human affairs? If the answer is no then you're likely a deist.
