Who cares if there are inactive accounts? I don't get the concern.

There is a value in keeping an open record of who joined in the past which is active and available. And it is important to remember that some people may be away for a long time though no fault, such as being critically ill for perhaps months, it would be cruel for them to loose their account, (Though I know it is easy to start again.) and find themselves out when they recover. If it is done it should at least be a very long time, such as a couple of years, and at least an email warning should be sent.

I have right at 400 in mine, the vast majority are inactive. This is true of any group, anywhere, any time. Culling the herd accomplishes nothing other than paring down the size of the group until it suffers a spurt of regrowth and you wind up with the same thing again. It's part of the beast. Look at the number of people who get out to vote on election day, then ask yourself if that doesn't seem familiar.

This is a valid question. I also have noticed there are several members in my local area who have not visited the site in a long time but still have active profiles. I imagine there is a specified amount of time where inactivity deactivates your profile.

Calling people "dead wood" because they are busy during the holiday season is rude and judgmental.
