We are now seeing clearly the primary reason that Trump ran for president. The Russian oligarchs are smuggling over half of the total income in Russia out of the country into more politically and financially secure havens -- particularly the USA and Britain.
By conspiring with Russians to rig the election, he could make it possible to smuggle more and more money out of Russia, with much of that money going directly into his corrupt business empire. In turn he could both enrich himself and play to his own egomania. Talk about venality and treachery!
I think trump ran for president for narcissistic needs ... and because numerous sycophants convinced him to. He never expected to win, or had any qualms about adhering to the regressive far-wrong rhetoric & propaganda he parroted. Knowing he’d be immune from harm, and not spending all that much, he gambled. We lost.
There’s little doubt the Industrial Republican propagandists had the pulse of the nations ignorant, those single-issue fools who vote only from spite. Armed with their hot-button single-issue rhetoric, trump emerged from the Republican pack (each sick to varying degrees.. yet having some semblance of decency) - as pied piper of the Republican Base.
It’s been discovered the Russians backed trump, as they did ‘Brexit,’ to cause confusion within our democracies … and because HRC would have shut them down. Trump definitely sought and relied on dirty politics & tactics from any direction, that being his nature, but I think you’re assigning him far more cunning and intelligence than he possesses..
It’ll eventually unravel … but I suspect the real Republican evil, the Mitch Mcconnells & friends fall asleep with satisfied smiles… They’ve got their court, their tax cuts, military contracts, guns, religion, and few regulations … and a whole lot of Democrats who no longer sleep as well ~
Well stated. Three is no doubt in my mind that without the conscionceless demagogues and political manipulators like McConnell, Gingrich, DeLay, Armee as well as the behind the scenes Grover Norquist, Trump would never really been taken seriously.
