Lyudmila Alexieva, Soviet/Russian human rights advocate, dies at 91. [hrw.org]
This was an amazing woman who fought for human rights and freedoms in the USSR starting in the 1960s. She was forced out of the country and lived in the US until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, when she returned and gave Boris Yeltsin and Putin the fighting hell they deserved.
