Any suggestions for an Xmas gift for a young man in boot camp? He will be done in January and then will leave shortly after that to serve in the Marines.

Do you know where he’s going to be stationed?
If so then look to see if they have restaurants like he enjoyed at home so that he can go and eat something seriously good after coming out of the field or something electronic.

Navy mom here ?... You have to ensure it's something he may take with him. I wanted to give my son a pocket watch like his grandfather promised ... He wasn't able to take it on the submarine. I then got him a diving watch.

That was clever. I've been presuming the best thing will be cash or a gift card.

@godef i never give cash or gift cards. And i'm not saying that's not the way to go, but it seemed like every patrol was permitted different things.

Lots of letters from as many of his friends as you can get. You can't really have much in boot camp, but that would be a wonderful gift. I was in army basic over xmas and they actually sent us home for a few days.

I not aware that they are doing this at Xmas for that group. That would be a nice surprise.

Yup, this. I really craved getting letters from people. Just gossip about anything.
