Ken Burns does such good work. I truly enjoyed that documentary, and might just have to watch it again now that you've reminded me of it.

Great documentary mini-series!

Of course your observation falls into my theory about many religious perons. They want to make all kinds o thigns "bad", like sex, drinking alcohol and such, because they get that little extra thrill of beign "naughty" when they do it. They aren't realy tryign to prevent peopel from doing it so much as they want to experience that "naughty thrill". It is more true for sex than for drinking alcohol, but it still works.

I took an “underground” tour of Butte, MT. A speakeasy was discovered, pretty much untouched since the end of prohibition. It’s convenient location right across the alley from city hall was probably just coincidental 😉

Forbidden fruit is always going to taste the sweetest.

Thank you prohabition for giving us the speakeasy. A lot of those places are still around, and they're some of the coolest clubs you'll ever walk into.

Did a report on Prohibition for some law enforcement classes ..back when my grandmother was alive. I’d never seen her and her younger sister light up like during their interview! Neither remained drinkers, but the thrill of having ‘broken the law’ sounded intoxicating!

Loved that series.. Seemed it ushered in a lasting, if generational disdain for law.

I have read there were twice as many drinking establishments during prohibition also.
