Are there any other academics here? Professional social scientists? Humanities? Other denizens of higher education? Are there enough to start a group? Academics or people who are particularly interested in soft scienecs, academia, education, humanities, or fine arts professionals or topics. Is that clearer? I say this because there is already a group for the "hard" sciences, but as members of the hard sciences are also academics or may be interested in other fields they would of course be welcome.

If you are a grad student, you're part of the profession imo.
Naval Architect, Aerospace, and Astronomy here. Daughter's a MS in Forensic Psychology and I helped with much of her homework. 
Based upon the answer to this question, I might have a suggestion. How important is it to you that members of this proposed group be academicians engaged only in the 'soft' sciences?

Eh, not on paper, but I'm an unyielding pedant and a born hair-splitter, with a BS in BS'in. I did my graduate work while finding the sickness AND the cure, volunteered at Fool Pityin Shelters every summer. After a brief unpaid internship at Badass Inc they promoted me to chairman of the Creative Weaponry Dept, Rusty Spoons division, and I've held a doctorate in "stuffin it in the can" since 1986. Does that count?

I’m a teacher at a community college in MS. I teach 6 different classes towards an associates degree in forestry. I have a masters in GIS and this fall was my very first GPS/GIS class I’ve ever taught.

i've 'taken' a gis class. it sure has taken off!
GIS is a very marketable skill -- kudos!
I like mapping and stuff, but I’m an idiot with coding so I’m not sure how marketable I can make it lol! Getting a masters got me a raise at work 
My passion is forestry for sure
