I don’t practice Buddhism, but feel drawn to several aspects. This photo is one of the few identifiable finds from the ashes of my home after the Camp Fire blazed thru my town. It was a brass Buddha that sat near my doorstep.
Open-hearted Compassion!
I also received a generous gift card from the Tzu Chi Foundation, a grassroots Buddhist group that provides disaster relief. Their volunteers streamed in from all over to meet with survivors and address their needs. I was impressed by their calm, kind presence. No preaching. I appreciated that!

I do practice Buddhism. I’m glad you had such a positive experience with the practitioners you met.

I am so sorry your house and belongings were destroyed in the Campfire wildfire. Hugs.

Wow, sadness and hope in a melted Buddha. I have two small Buddha’s that I would not part with. I admire the discipline and claim some concepts. I hope you are recovering well...and I am grieved for what you and your town must have gone through.

I'm so VERY sorry! Sending MUCH support and hoping you'll be able to move into a new chapter soon!

Those Buddhists (there's great wisdom there) might remind you that ''letting go'' of earthly things is a form of freedom. There might be something helpful in that statement....after you've finished coping with the terrible loss of special possessions/jewelry/photos/mementos, etc.

Again, I'm so very sorry!

I was going to plug my group, but...nah. Thank you for sharing this. I try to open my heart and make my compassion available to all beings...but sometimes (okay most of the time) I get caught up in my own world and need to be reminded of what's going on around me so I can be present with it. I don't know what to say.........other than 'thank you'. 🙂

There’s nothing wrong with taking what’s positive from any religion or belief and using it to enhance yourself. And I’m for your loss those fires were enormous and the most devastating that I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Hopefully everyone will recover soon
