I'm not sure what happened. At some point, I just decided to stop being social with people offline. Some of it is related to the negative attitudes of others, and some of it is the thought that if mean people suck and you don't know which people aren't mean, why bother having friends and people to be social with?
So here I am, admitting I want a social circle. Not just on the interwebs, but actual people to hang out with and share stories in a strictly platonic way. Deep down, I like people and enjoy talking to them. I just can't do constant negativity. There's enough of that happening in the world.
Anyone local to Portland up to hanging out: coffee, a pint, tea, mini-golf, standard golf, bowling, hiking, card gaming, and board gaming are all some of my interests. I enjoy hypothesizing and theoretical discussions, as well. I'm progressive, laid-back, relaxed, love to laugh, and am easy to talk to. I can do all of these things online, I just want human interaction!
Your post is confusing. You began by saying you have withdrawn from with people in real life. "A misanthrope?" I wondered.
Then you said the opposite:
"I enjoy hypothesizing and theoretical discussions, as well. I'm progressive, laid-back, relaxed, love to laugh, and am easy to talk to. I can do all of these things online, I just want human interaction!"
I surround myself with positive people, and suggest you do the same. In my experience, most people are kind.
Just walk away from negative people.
