From CIA over throwing democracies in Guatamala & Chile` to installing dictators in Nicaragua & Dominican Republic, our involvement has been criminal. Now we have exported MS13 to El Salvador. What goes around.......

My ex was from Guatemala and used to tell me about the gang problems that have migrated back from the US. They start here but are so much worse their due to lack of at least somewhat functional police force and government.

@MsAl The corruption of law enforcement due to the USA's insatiable lust for drugs, makes the situation unsolvable until we grasp our selfish complicity in all of this.

@Countrywoman It brings this whole war on refugees to a new awful level. It is amazing the things we have done to others as a country, and continue to throw our weight around and act as though we are the best..

I agree there have been historical interventions.

The base problem: STOP MAKING BABIES!

That reply is not only cynical but repulsive.

Not permitted by Catholic dominated countries. Stop believing in fantasy then one can stop making the babies that god decided to make or some BS like that.

@callmedubious . . . .7 billion on the planet. Time to buy a vowel.

@callmedubious, @Countrywoman . . the "church" is the most evil organization on the planet.

@Jacar Well it is up there. For most evil I nominate Mussolini's invention fascism. Then National Socialism, its evil stepchild holding hands with Stalinist dictatorships & let's see......throw in some genocidal systems as Andrew Jackson employed &, well, there seems to be quite a few mostly developed by MEN.

@Countrywoman . . . men have been shits. . . . it is important to be clear about how here and now are different.

I am not my father. To repeatedly demand that i apologise for his and his predecessors behavior does nothing to help me be a better man. And solves nothing else.

@Jacar You are one man. I was eluding to "men". If you have no reason to apologize then do not. If you are not of "men" then you are an evolved man & I am not referring to you. Do not identify with the group when the attributes of the group represent a history of pillage, plunder, & piracy.

@Countrywoman
You left out Rockefeller, other early industrialists, and all those Titans of industry that followed with their unsafe work conditions, long-term environmental damage, and other shady actions that are on par or beyond what any all those dictators have perpetrated. All in order to make a buck.

@dokala True 'dat. Such a shame unions became legal & put a stop to all of the freedoms permitted by capitalism to exploit. But we still can exploit Africa & Central America. School of the Americas (now known as WHINSEC) offers degrees in forming your own death squads to take care of those pesky union organizers. Advanced degrees in enhanced interrogation formerly known as torture. Feh. What's in a name anyway?

@Countrywoman If only more of our society cared to educate themselves on the real history they may be more helpful in the pursuit of change or accountability, accepting responsibility for our country's actions.

It is a terrible thing to think that one's country, which is supposed to be a democracy, is responsible for millions of people living lives of abject, poverty & misery.
Of course the sociopaths that direct those murderous policies just consider it capitalism. Someone said that the final result of capitalism carried to it's natural conclusion is murder.
I don't believe in karma anymore than I believe in a personal god but if there ever was a country whose govts have done everything imaginable to attract bad karma it is the US.

We are reaping what we have sown over decades. We could be making their countries safer and keep the people in their homes but heck we don't even care to do that here, pretty sad.
